Neural UpMix currently supports Pro Tools® (RTAS and AudioSuite) and VST formats.
No. Neural UpMix can be used as a file-based process as well as a real-time plug-in.
No. Neural UpMix is not an audio encoding product, such as DTS-HD Master Audio Suite™. The Neural UpMix plug-in can output 5.1 or 7.1 multi-channel PCM stems from stereo or 5.1 PCM source material and is intended for projects where the original source elements for a conventional upmix are not available. It is especially useful for catalog films, TV series, documentaries, menus, deleted scenes, and featurettes.
Yes. Neural UpMix supports 2.0 to 5.1 upmixing, which is appropriate for DVD use.
Upmixing with the Neural UpMix plug-in is a creative process. Unlike Neural Audio processing in AVRs, the Neural UpMix plug-in has a number of creative settings, such as width, depth, and channel layout that can be adjusted and automated on a scene-by-scene basis. The Neural UpMix plug-in also has an LFE low-pass filter and a limiter with a programmable ceiling value. Additionally, when creating an upmix from Dialog, Music and Effects stems, it can be used to upmix only certain elements in program material; for example, a music or effects stem could be upmixed while the dialog stem remains unchanged.
Neural UpMix can output 5.1 or 7.1 multi-channel stems from stereo or 5.1 source material. It supports the following upmix scenarios: stereo to 5.1, stereo to 7.1, and 5.1 to 7.1.
Yes, Neural UpMix can create 5.1 stems from matrix-encoded Lt/Rt source material.
The Neural UpMix algorithm uses phase and intensity information from the input audio to determine the appropriate upmix. Based on this information, the Depth slider adjusts the balance between front and surround speakers. In the 5.1 to 7.1 scenario, the front speakers (L,C,R, LFE) are unaffected, maintaining the front image of the 5.1 source material.
The Neural UpMix algorithm uses phase and intensity information from the input audio to determine the appropriate upmix. Based on this information, the Width slider adjusts the spread of the center image across the left, center, and right speakers. This control is only enabled when the input is stereo source material.
Yes. Neural UpMix controls are automatable.
Yes. Neural UpMix supports saving and loading plug-in presets.
Yes. The Neural Upmix plug-in can be used in various post-production applications where there is a need to upmix stereo or 5.1 source material.
